You do not need a complete construction drawing package to request an initial quotation.
For most office glass partition projects, a floor plan, basic dimensions and a few site photos are enough for the supplier to understand the layout and prepare a preliminary proposal.
The key is to separate quotation dimensions from final production dimensions.
At quotation stage, approximate dimensions are acceptable. Before production, the finished opening sizes should be checked again.
Start by Separating Each Partition Run
Do not provide only the total square metres of the project.
Mark each partition run separately on the floor plan, for example:
P1, P2, P3, P4
For each run, record the width, height and whether a door or special detail is included.
| Partition | Width | Height | Door | Remark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | 2200 mm | 2100 mm | No | With blind |
| P2 | 3360 mm | 2100 mm | No | Standard |
| P3 | 4800 mm | 2100 mm | Yes | Matte black |
This makes quotation checking much easier when different areas use different doors, finishes or glass configurations.
If you are still deciding between different glazing configurations, our Single vs Double Glazed Office Partitions guide explains the main differences between the two systems.
Measure the Finished Width and Height
For quotation, measure the approximate opening width and height.
For production, the supplier normally needs the finished dimensions:
- finished wall to finished wall
- finished floor to finished ceiling
If the flooring, ceiling or wall finish is not complete, note this clearly.
For renovation projects, measure the height at more than one point. A long partition run may not have exactly the same ceiling height from one end to the other.
A simple check is:
left → middle → right
If the difference is noticeable, send all three measurements.
Mark Door Positions on the Plan
You do not need to finalize every door detail before requesting the first quotation.
But the supplier should know:
- where the door is located
- approximate door width
- approximate door height
- single or double door
If the final lock, handle or access-control system has not been decided, that can be confirmed later.
At this stage, the important point is to reserve the correct opening and understand how the door affects the partition layout.
Show Any Non-Standard Areas
Standard straight runs are easy to estimate.
Special conditions should be marked separately, such as:
- curved glass
- columns
- L- or T-junctions
- different ceiling heights
- partial-height partitions
- blinds
- frosted areas
For curved sections, provide the radius if it is already known.
If not, send the plan and site photos first. The supplier can identify which additional dimensions are required.

Site Photos Help More Than Long Descriptions
For existing offices or renovation projects, site photos are very useful.
Try to include:
- one overall view of the partition line
- the ceiling condition
- the floor
- both wall connection points
- any columns or obstacles
This usually gives the supplier enough context to identify potential installation or measurement issues before preparing the quotation.

What Is Enough for an Initial Quote?
For most projects, you can start with:
- floor plan
- width and height of each partition run
- door positions
- site photos
- project location
- approximate quantity
- any known acoustic or design requirement
Detailed shop drawings are not normally necessary at this stage.
If the project is still at budget stage, approximate dimensions can be used first. Final dimensions should be confirmed before production.
For a broader explanation of the main factors that affect pricing, see our Office Glass Partition Cost Guide.
Before You Send the Project
A useful quotation package does not need to be complicated.
If the supplier can clearly understand:
where the partition goes + how large it is + where the doors are + what the site looks like
the project can usually move to the next stage.
Send us your floor plan, basic dimensions and site photos. We can review the layout and point out any missing measurements before preparing the quotation.
